Paid Work Opportunity** Closing 10 Sep**

The current editor of the J&P E-News is Matty Maslen – who has featured in these posts a few times! Matty now has a fulltime job and can no longer continue doing the E-news work.

So…. the J&P Commission are looking for someone to take over this work on a self-employed basis. On average it works out at about 10hrs per month @£20 per hour but the number of hours will vary a bit from month to month. All of the work can be done remotely.

What would I be doing?

  • seeking out suitable articles from people  across the Diocese of Leeds about social justice issues. These might be factual articles about actions being taken in different parishes or colleges. It could be more of an opinion piece about a particular issue of social justice (especially the current priority issues for SPARK & the J&P Commission: Climate Change, UK Poverty, Peace and Nonviolence and racial justice)
  • editing any articles received and ensuring that they look attractive on the web page
  • occasionally writing articles to supplement what is received from others.

What skills are essential?

  • good at networking with other people. We do not have a wide ready-made diocesan network of contacts in colleges and parishes – so (to some extent) you will have to discover your own ways of finding out what is going on .
  • A good written style and a very good standard of English.
  • A passion for social justice issues and what, as Christians, we are being called to do about them.
  • Someone who is able to manage their own time.
  • Someone who is comfortable and confident in the use of digital media (contrary to the image used for this post, no typewriters are involved in this work opportunity!)

What skills would be a bonus? – We can dream!

  • Someone who has experience of blogging and, in particular, of the Wordpress content management system (but training in this can be given)
  • knowledge or experience of journalism or marketing

I’m interested! What do I do now?

The person who looks after both the J&P website and the SPARK website is Joe Burns. He is also the Treasurer of the J&P Commission.

In the first instance simply email him detailing out what skills and experiences you have that are relevant.
